Prambanan Temple


Candi Loro Jonggrang or commonly referred to society as Prambanan temple is located on the border between Central Java and Yogyakarta, approximately 17 km east of the city of Yogyakarta or about 53 km west of Solo. Enshrinement complex is split into two complexes that enter the western region and the eastern entrance of Yogyakarta province of Central Java.

This temple complex is called "Prambanan" because of its location in the area of Prambanan. As for the title itself is taken from Loro Jonggrang arising folklore about a girl who Jonggrang or tall daughter of King Boko.

Prambanan temple was built around the 9th century by the Rakai Pikatan who later settled by the Rakai Balitung it inferred from the inscription Siwargrha.
